Protect Your Family with Professional Radon Testing
Did you know that radon is a naturally occurring radioactive gas and the leading cause of lung cancer among non-smokers? According to the EPA, radon exposure is responsible for an estimated 21,000 lung cancer deaths each year, making it the second leading cause of lung cancer overall. Because radon is invisible, odorless, and tasteless, testing is the only way to determine if a home has elevated levels.
At DBC Home Inspections, we provide professional radon testing using industry-leading SunRADON continuous radon monitors. Our equipment is professionally calibrated each year to ensure accurate and reliable results.
If the home you are purchasing has never been tested or has not been tested recently, we strongly recommend a radon-in-air test. Because timing during a real estate transaction can be limited, we encourage clients to schedule radon testing at the same time as the home inspection whenever possible.
Before testing begins, the home must remain under closed-house conditions for at least 12 hours. Testing equipment is placed at the lowest livable level of the home, which may vary depending on the age and layout of the property.
Compared to many alternative testing methods, our equipment provides greater accuracy, security, and reliability. The good news is that if elevated radon levels are found, mitigation is typically straightforward, effective, and relatively affordable.
The only way to know whether a home has elevated radon levels is to test for it. Unless recent test results are available, we strongly recommend radon testing for every home purchase.
Our standard radon test includes:
A 48-hour continuous monitoring period
Hour-by-hour radon readings
A graph of radon level fluctuations
Tamper detection monitoring
An average radon level for the testing period
Protect Your Investment with Comprehensive Well Water Testing
Testing the water quality of any home with a private well system is highly recommended. Regardless of the type of well, contaminants can be present, and water quality issues are often impossible to detect without proper laboratory analysis.
While modern water treatment systems can effectively address many water quality concerns, treatment and filtration systems can be costly. Identifying potential issues before purchasing a home allows buyers to make informed decisions and better understand any future maintenance or treatment needs.
Results are typically returned within three days of sampling. To help keep the inspection process moving efficiently, water samples may be collected before the scheduled home inspection when necessary.
At DBC Home Inspections, we carry water sampling kits and coordinate testing through a certified laboratory for fast, reliable results. Our standard water analysis includes testing for:
Radon in water
Arsenic
Sodium
Fluoride
Chloride
pH balance
Nitrate-N
Iron
Manganese
Coliform bacteria
E. coli
Copper
Lead
Water hardness
Uranium testing is also available upon request.
